I wanted to learn how to box and find a fun way to keep fit. I was living in Hackney at the time and saw that FighterFit had some awesome reviews so decided to check it out!

When I first joined, it was actually a bit intimidating but that quickly goes away. The coaches are extremely friendly and personable which massively helps to keep you motivated and wanting to come back.

As a regular, it’s almost hard to imagine not being able to go to FighterFit at least a few times a week. This would be to continue learning on the boxing front as well as keeping my fitness up. It’s MASSIVELY boosted my confidence and has given me an additional sense of community.

Before joining FighterFit I’d go to the gym regularly, lift weights and do HIIT and Spin classes. I started getting bored of this type of exercise, lacked motivation and wasn’t enjoying exercising! Boxing had always fascinated me – [so] I did a trial session in Feb 2022 and.. I was hooked!

I found the FighterFit classes to be the perfect mix of elating, motivating and incredibly physically challenging! One year on, I am still encouraged and pushed to continuously improve. At FighterFit you get a personalised training experience, even if there are 15-20 people in the class – it’s incredible!

My fitness and boxing technique have exponentially improved. But the most important thing that I’ve achieved since joining FighterFit is heightened psychological focus and wellbeing, and improved discipline. Boxing at FighterFit has given me the discipline and confidence to perform well in both my job and Masters, and to never give up!

My favourite thing about FighterFit is how the coaches foster and encourage an inclusive and positive environment. This means you get to train with a very diverse group of people. Importantly, as a woman, I feel welcome and safe. FighterFit is also very body positive – I have never heard any focus on calories or weight loss in his classes, which is extremely refreshing and welcome.

I needed an activity that was fun yet challenging – unlike the GYM or Spin classes – and I had always casually been interested in boxing as a sport so it seemed like a good fit.

Before staring, I had base level anxiety about making a fool of myself, [but] when I joined, it was great. I learned pretty quickly most people are far too concerned with looking at themselves to notice your own poor technique or fitness

I’ve learned lots since being here. I’m easily in the best shape I’ve been in since I was 22 (so 12 years). My boxing ability increases month on month which is now the most important thing to me. I’ve learned a new skill in my 30s which isn’t always easy!

Being excited about boxing 3-4 times a week keeps me honest in other areas of life e.g. I’m less likely to go to the pub when I have a class booked in that night or the next morning. I eat better as I need the better nutrition to keep up with the physical demands. Otherwise I have gained a far greater appreciation and nuanced understanding of the sport of boxing which makes it far more entertaining to watch.

Aside from all the above it is a great atmosphere!

It took me a while to find the right gym but I loved Fighter Fit immediately. The environment is instantly welcoming and I felt completely at ease. Francesco works hard to create a safe place for people of all abilities to enjoy learning new techniques and motivates people to reach new levels.

Since joining FighterFit my technique has improved drastically and I continue to feel motivated week after week to keep working on my skill set and fitness. I decided to join FighterFit to become stronger physically and mentally after a sad life event.

I immediately felt welcome and in a safe and positive environment. I met a lot of incredible people from very various backgrounds and age and loved the energy during the classes which is contagious and loved how I felt after the first class: tired yet energized with positive thoughts.

Since being here I have got a lot fitter, I have learned how to fight but also how to be more patient. What I learn at boxing is helping me in other areas of my life, including work, stress management, anticipation and strategy and again… patience.

I believe it helps me to become a healthier and better person. I have also made a lot of very good friends at the gym.

What is my favourite thing about FighterFit? Sorry, I cannot pick only ONE thing. That’s too hard. Not doing it!
